Tips On Postal Service – Use "Correct Addressing" Tool & Provide Sender's Address

Before sending a mail item, it is advised to check:

if sender’s address is written

sufficient postage

Write the sender's name and address in the top left-hand corner on the front of the envelope or on the back of the envelope to facilitate the return of undeliverable mail.

“Correct Addressing” Tool Helps You Check Local Addresses

An online “Correct Addressing” tool at Hongkong Post website and Hongkong Post Mobile App is provided to facilitate the general public to easily find the correct address format for local post. The tool also enables you to print the address on envelopes and address labels for posting or other purposes.

Steps of using "Correct Addressing" tool

Step 1 Download Hongkong Post Mobile App
Step 2 Select "Correct Addressing Tool"
Step 3 Select "Search Address"
Step 4 Save the address or print address labels

Website Version

Step 1 Click "Other Tools" at
Step 2 Click "Correct Addressing Tool"
Step 3 Search by "Estate/Building Name/Street Name" or by "Structured Address" (in the order of Region, District, Estate Name (or Street Name), Building Name, Floor and Unit). Follow the steps displayed to enter the address you want to search.
Step 4 Preview the correct address format. You can then choose to print the address on an envelope or print address labels.

*You can also choose “Address in QR code” or other function.
*Tips: To ensure timely delivery, please use this tool to check the correct address format if you have changed your correspondence address.

Address Zone

To make mail sorting a much more efficient task for our mechanized letter sorting system, please print or write the address within the address zone as shown below:

Leave 40mm above the address zone, and 15mm for the left, right and bottom sides

Inside Address Zone – Local Mail

Order of local mail address should be name of addressee, flat/room and floor number, building name, building number, street name, district and region

Remark: Postcode system is not in place in Hong Kong. If it is required to input postcode of Hong Kong at website(s), you may leave the field blank or try to fill in with "000", "0000", "000000" or "HKG" which are frequently used by others nowadays.

Inside Address Zone – International Mail

IOrder of international mail address should be addressee, flat/floor, building name, street name, town, postal code, state/province and country

Use of Language

It is important for the addressee's address to be written in a language that can be understood by both the local and overseas postal staff. The address should be written legibly in Roman letters and Arabic numerals. The address may be written in the language of the country of destination but the city and country names must be written in ENGLISH. Include a postal code, if any.

An address written in Chinese characters is acceptable for local mail as well as the mail sending to The Mainland, Macao and Taiwan.
