Since operating as a Trading Fund Department in 1995, Hongkong Post has become a market-oriented service organisation and grown beyond the traditional postal services to provide a diversified range of services from mail and logistics services, retail business to e-services in addition to the continuous drive to develop new markets, like those emerged from the growth of e-Commerce, in both local and non-local contexts. The following non-civil service contract managerial position in Hongkong Post is advertised:

System Analyst (Technical Services – Network Infrastructure)

(Around $810,000 per annum + gratuity)

Major responsibilities:

• To undertake any network infrastructure-related duties for the smooth operation of Hongkong Post business;
• To undertake the design, implementation, support and maintenance activities for the network infrastructure, including:
  • providing technical support for application teams and various support teams in ongoing or project-based network-related issues in the areas of feasibility study, analysis and design, sizing, site preparation, implementation and testing;
  • co-ordinating and collaborating with contractors, users, application teams and various support teams for proper scheduling and implementation of network-related tasks;
  • providing 24x7 first-line and/or second-line on-call technical support for the network infrastructure whenever there is a network-related problem;
  • ensuring that the outcomes of assigned tasks meet internal and external users’ requirements which cover quality, budget, delivery schedules and functionality; and
  • procuring network hardware and software, including acquisition, installation, support and maintenance;
• To undertake the evaluation of new technologies in network equipment, computer hardware and software;
• To provide IT training to end users; and
• To prepare, examine and update documentations, including procedures and reports.

Requirements:

• A Hong Kong bachelor’s degree in IT or computer studies, or equivalent;
• Level 2 (Grade E before 2007) or above in both Chinese Language and English Language (Syllabus B before 2007) in the Hong Kong Diploma of Secondary Education Examination (HKDSE) or the Hong Kong Certificate of Education Examination (HKCEE), or equivalent;
• A minimum of 5 years’ post-qualification working experience in IT field, of which a minimum of 3 years should be involved in (1) the design, implementation, support and maintenance of large-scale network infrastructure in multiple data centres, general offices and sales counters for serving the general public, customers, suppliers, business partners and/or employees; or (2) the enhancement of core network equipment in data centres and relocations of data centres;
• Solid hands-on experience in providing 24x7 first/second line support for network and critical systems related to logistic operation, and general office operation for postal or similar businesses;
• Proficient in one or more of the following areas:
  Cisco Network Product Support; First Line Support for Retail Network; and WAN Connection Management and Support;
• Preference will be given to holders of CCNP/CCDP/CCIE/CCDE or CISSP/CISA/CISM/CRISC/CGEIT;
• Good interpersonal and persuasive skills in managing multiple stakeholders to adopt IT solutions effectively to meet business and operational targets;
• Diligent, with great initiative and good analytical and problem-solving abilities;
• Good verbal/written and interpersonal communication skills in both Chinese and English; and
• Resume must provide career history as well as skills and experience in chronological order.

Terms of appointment:

• 2-year contract;
• Monthly salary of $58,485;
• Discretionary performance pay up to about 1 month’s salary in every 6 months;
• 14 days’ paid annual leave; and
• Gratuity payable plus Hongkong Post’s MPF contributions equivalent to 15% of the total basic salary drawn during the contract period.
