Hongkong Post is advertising for the following non-civil service contract managerial position:

ANALYST PROGRAMMER (TECHNICAL SERVICES)
(Around $540,000 per annum + gratuity)
Major responsibilities:
- To work in the Server Team, undertaking ongoing server maintenance support duties and installation/configuration of different hardware (including enterprise grade servers, blade server systems, SAN storages) and different operating system platforms (including Windows, Linux, vSphere, Hyper-V) for high availability, reliability and good performance server environment;
- To coordinate and collaborate with other technical teams, application teams and vendors for ongoing or project-based activities, including but not limited to feasibility studies, product evaluations, solution design, capacity sizing, system implementation and testing, performance tuning and troubleshooting;
- To perform regular patching and software delivery to servers, and maintain the servers’ healthiness, resources utilisation, normal operation of different kinds of server services, etc.;
- To evaluate the impact to servers for software/patches installation/updates and the related new technologies;
- To provide first-line and second-line standby on-call support of servers;
- To assist the team to handle administration works, such as documentation, procurement, hardware/software inventory updating, bill processing and filing;
- To supervise subordinates in handling the above tasks; and
- To undertake any other tasks assigned by supervisors.
Requirements:
- A Hong Kong bachelor’s degree in Information Technology (IT) or Computer Studies, or equivalent;
- Level 2 (Grade E before 2007) or above in both Chinese Language and English Language (Syllabus B before 2007) in the Hong Kong Diploma of Secondary Education Examination (HKDSEE) or the Hong Kong Certificate of Education Examination (HKCEE), or equivalent;
- A minimum of 3 years’ full-time post-qualification work experience in the IT field, of which a minimum of 2 years should be in ongoing support and maintenance of server infrastructure on various operating systems (e.g. Linux, Windows Server, VMware, Hyper-V);
- Solid hands-on experience in at least one of the following areas and proficient in using the relevant tools: Microsoft Windows Server 2016/2019/2022 or above, Ubuntu / Red Hat Enterprise Linux, VMware vSphere & vCenter, Microsoft Hyper-V, server monitoring, server hardening and patching, etc.;
- Proficient in at least one of the following areas: (1) blade server and SAN storage hardware support; (2) 7x24 first line support for data centre; and (3) supporting IT infrastructure with high availability setup across two or more data centres;
- Preference will be given to holders of related certificates, such as Microsoft Certified Solutions Expert (MCSE) / Red Hat Certified System Administrator (RHCSA);
- Good oral and written communication skills in both Chinese and English and good interpersonal skills; and
- Diligent with great initiative and good analytical and problem solving abilities.
Terms of appointment:
- 2-year contract;
- Monthly salary $38,790;
- Discretionary performance pay up to about 1 month’s salary in every six months;
- 14 days’ annual leave; and
- Gratuity payable plus Hongkong Post’s MPF contributions equal to 15% of the total basic salary drawn during the contract period.
