(2) Bill Type 02: Post Office Private Box (P.O. Box) Bills printed with Type Code 21-26, 28 or 29
(3) Bill Type 03: Bills printed with Type Code 20, 51-58 (See Note) ("Type 03 Bills")

Note: With effect from 1 January 2020, Prepayment of Postage for Postal Franking Machines is categorized as Bill Type 03 with Type Code 20 (Miscellaneous Services); users of Postal Franking Machines must make prepayments of postage to Hongkong Post via applicable payment methods described in this page. Since no bills are issued by Hongkong Post for such prepayments, the bill sample for Bill Type 03 in the above hyperlink is not applicable, please refer to Page 4 of the hyperlink for the sample of the letter printed with payment barcode and electronic payment number.

Automated Teller Machines (ATM)

This is a 24-hour service where Automated Teller Machines (ATM) cardholders of HSBC / Hang Seng Bank and JETCO member banks may settle Hongkong Post Bills at the ATM which bear "BILL PAYMENT" or "JET PAYMENT" signage.

Notes

  1. Please contact your bank for details about the daily transaction limit.
  2. Receipt will be ejected for the cardholder's retention after the completion of payment process.
  3. Instruction for payment given before midnight on the due date will be regarded as on time.
  4. Individual banks may have slightly different payment procedures.

Procedures for paying your bill via HSBC / Hang Seng Bank’s ATM:

  1. Insert card into the ATM
  2. Key in ATM Personal Identification Number
  3. Select "Bill Payment"
  4. Select the merchant type “Government”
  5. Select the merchant name “Hongkong Post”
  6. Key in the "Bill Type"
  7. Key in the "Electronic Payment Number" #
  8. Select the bank account for payment
  9. Enter the payment amount
  10. Print the receipt for future reference

Procedures for paying your bill via JETCO member banks’ ATM:

  1. Insert card into the ATM
  2. Key in ATM Personal Identification Number
  3. Select "Bill Payment"
  4. Select “Merchant Code Entry”
  5. Key in “9089
  6. Key in the "Bill Type"
  7. Key in the "Electronic Payment Number" #
  8. Select the bank account for payment
  9. Enter the payment amount
  10. Print the receipt for future reference

Internet Banking

This is a 24-hour service where payers may settle Hongkong Post Bills through their own Internet banking accounts.

  2. Instruction for payment given before midnight on the due date will be regarded as on time.
  3. Individual banks may have slightly different payment procedures.

Procedures for paying your bill via Internet banking:

  1. Login your Internet banking account
  2. Select "Bill Payment"
  3. Select the merchant type "Government"
  4. Select the merchant name "Hongkong Post"
  5. Select the "Bill Type"
  6. Enter the "Electronic Payment Number" #
  7. Select the bank account for payment
  8. Enter the payment amount
  9. Select the payment date (on or before payment due date)
  10. Confirm the payment instruction

PPS

This is a 24-hour service that allows you to settle Hongkong Post Bills by a tone phone, Internet, or the mobile application "PPS on Mobile" anytime, anywhere.

Notes

  1. Merchant code of Hongkong Post is “6586”.
  2. Instruction for payment given before midnight on the due date will be regarded as on time.

Procedures for paying your bill with PPS:

Step 1 : PPS Account Opening through PPS Terminal (one-off)

  1. Go to any PPS registration terminal with your Automated Teller Machine (ATM) Card
  2. Select language
  3. Press "1" to open an account
  4. Swipe the ATM Card through the PPS terminal
  5. Select bank account
  6. Enter ATM Personal Identification Number
  7. Enter mobile number to receive One-time Passwords in future for authentication purpose
  8. Choose a 5-digit PPS Phone Password
  9. Press "1" to set up PPS Internet Password (if applicable)
  10. Choose a 8-digit PPS Internet Password (if applicable)
  11. Collect and keep PPS confirmation slip with your personal 8-digit PPS Account Number. Please keep the slip for using the service in the future.

Step 2 : Bill Registration

Through Tone Phone

  1. Dial 18011 through a tone phone
  2. Key in "1" for bill registration
  3. Key in PPS Account Number
  4. Key in Merchant Code “6586”
  5. Key in "Electronic Payment Number" #**
  6. Enter One-time Password received by your registered mobile number

Through Internet

  1. Go to the website "https://www.ppshk.com"
  2. Login with (i) PPS Account Number / Name and (ii) PPS Internet Password
  3. Select "Add Bill"
  4. Key in the Merchant Code “6586”
  5. Key in "Electronic Payment Number"#**
  6. Enter One-time Password received by your registered mobile number

Through “PPS on Mobile” ^

  1. Run the application “PPS on Mobile”
  2. Login with (i) PPS Account Number / Name or dedicated PPS Account Name for mobile channel and (ii) PPS Internet Password
  3. Select "Add Bill"
  4. Key in the Merchant Code “6586”
  5. Key in "Electronic Payment Number"#**
  6. Enter One-time Password received by your registered mobile number

^ Please download and install the application “PPS on Mobile” in your mobile device before you perform the above steps.

** For payment of Bill Type 01, 02 or Bill Type 03 with Type Code 20 (only applicable to Prepayment of Postage for Postal Franking Machines) or 51-58, each "Electronic Payment Number" should be registered once only. However, for other bills of Type Code 20 (i.e. Miscellaneous Services other than Prepayment of Postage for Postal Franking Machine), the "Electronic Payment Number" has to be registered each time before settling the bill.

Step 3 : Bill Payment

Through Tone Phone

  1. Dial 18031 through a tone phone
  2. Key in PPS Phone Password
  3. Key in Merchant Code “6586”
  4. Key in "Electronic Payment Number"#
  5. Key in "Bill Type"
  6. Key in Bill Payment Amount (Please use “*” to represent the decimal point)
  7. Note the Payment Reference Number. Don't cease the operation until the whole Payment Reference Number has been given or the whole transaction will be cancelled.
  8. Select to pay other bills (if applicable)

Through Internet

  1. Go to the website "https://www.ppshk.com"
  2. Login with (i) PPS Account Number / Name and (ii) PPS Internet Password
  3. Select "Pay Bill"
  4. Select the bill registered and click "Pay" button
  5. Key in or Select "Bill Type"
  6. Key in Bill Payment Amount
  7. Verify the payment instruction and click "Pay" button
  8. Note the Payment Reference Number

Through “PPS on Mobile”

  1. Run the application “PPS on Mobile”
  2. Login with (i) PPS Account Number / Name or dedicated PPS Account Name for mobile channel and (ii) PPS Internet Password
  3. Select "Pay Bill"
  4. Select the bill registered
  5. Key in or Select "Bill Type"
  6. Key in Bill Payment Amount
  7. Click “Proceed” button
  8. Verify the payment instruction and click "Pay" button
  9. Note the Payment Reference Number

Phone Banking

This is a 24-hour service where bank account holders of HSBC / Hang Seng Bank and designated JETCO member banks may settle Hongkong Post Bills using phone banking service.

  2. Instruction for payment given before midnight on the due date will be regarded as on time.
  3. Individual banks may have slightly different payment procedures.

Procedures for paying your bill via phone banking:

  1. Call the phone banking hotline
  2. Choose the appropriate language
  3. Select "Bank Account Services"
  4. Key in the registered account number and Phone Personal Identification Number
  5. Select "Bill Payments"
  6. Choose registered merchant name or new bill registration
  7. For new bills, select the merchant type and the merchant name
  8. Select "Bill Type"
  9. Enter "Electronic Payment Number"#
  10. Select the bank account for payment
  11. Enter the payment amount
  12. Confirm the payment instruction

Autopay

Autopay arrangement is available to bills of Speedpost/Local CourierPost, P. O. Box Rental Renewal (Type Code 21), International Business Reply Service (Type Code 51), Business Reply Service (Type Code 52) and Freepost Service (Type Code 54) only.

Customer may collect a Direct Debit Authorisation Form from Hongkong Post and return the completed form to bank for autopay arrangement. Please contact 2921 2222 (Quick Keys 1,3,2) for autopay arrangement of Speedpost/Local CourierPost bills, 2921 2249 for that of International Business Reply Service, Business Reply Service and Freepost Service bills, or 2921 2255 / 2921 2256 for that of P.O. Box Rental Renewal.

Receipt will be issued by Hongkong Post upon successful autopay for bills of P.O. Box Rental Renewal. On the other hand, for successful autopay for bills of Speedpost/Local CourierPost, International Business Reply Service, Business Reply Service and Freepost Service, relevant autopay records will be reflected on the bills of the following month and no additional receipt will be issued by Hongkong Post.

By post

Please send crossed cheque made payable to "Postmaster General" together with the "Slip for Payment By Post" at the lower portion of the bill (if applicable), and send to Revenue Accounts Section, Financial Services Division, 5/F, Hongkong Post Building, 8 Wang Kee Street, Kowloon Bay, Kowloon, Hong Kong

Please write the following information on the back of the cheque:

No Hongkong Post receipt will be issued for payment by post. Please ensure sufficient mailing time and postage to make delivery in order. Underpaid mail will be rejected. The postmark date will be regarded as the date of payment to determine whether the payment is on time. Payment is valid only after the cheque is cleared. Cash should not be sent through the post. Post-dated cheques are not accepted.

In Person

Payment may be made in person by cash, EPS, cheque and cashier order at any post office. Receipt will be issued by Hongkong Post upon successful payment.

When making payment in person, please produce the bill intact (not applicable to Prepayment of Postage for Postal Franking Machines); for Prepayment of Postage for Postal Franking Machines, please provide the licence number or present the payment barcode printed on the relevant letter issued by Hongkong Post (See sample on Page 4 here).
