Hongkong Post - Ordinary Letter / Packet

While all letters are important, delivery is not always urgent. You can use our standard services for letters and packets including envelopes, cards, folders, rolls or packages. Unenveloped or unwrapped correspondence, other than cards or folders, will not be accepted. Cards and folders must be made of ordinary cardboard or of paper not less than 0.25mm thick, and must be rectangular in shape. The packing must ensure the integrity of the contents during transport.

Delivery standard (Ordinary)

Ordinary small letters will be delivered on the next working day. Ordinary large letters and packets will be delivered within 2 working days.

Note: Saturday, Sunday and public holidays are excluded for performance measurement under the performance pledges; whereas for the purpose of determining the date of posting for all mail items, Sunday and public holidays are excluded.

Remarks:

To ensure addresses as printed on mails are effectively and correctly read by Hongkong Post’s Mechanised Letter Sorting System, senders are advised to note the followings in printing addresses:

should be typed clearly and sharply;
for printing of addresses in English, each character should be within 2.8 – 5.0 mm high and 1.8 – 3.5 mm wide. Times New Roman of not less than 11 point size is recommended;
for printing of addresses in Chinese, 細明體 of not less than 16 point size is recommended; and
proportionately spaced printing should be avoided.

Note: Any single lot of 2,000 or more identical mail items posting to local addresses is classified as Local Bulk Mail no matter there is a discount or not, and shall comply with the posting procedures and conditions as stipulated in the Posting Guide.
